My name is Ally and I'm 18 years old, residing in Ontario, Canada. I'm of Polish, Irish and Ukrainian descent. I am currently a first year student attending Brock University, studying History and Biology. I'm very talkative, and a total bookworm. I love spending time with my closest friends. I'm just one person living in a big city with big dreams, hoping to travel to Europe, especially where the leprechauns dwell. Care to learn more?

Happy New Years 2009! It’s 2009 already?! Seriously, where is the time going? This year has gone by so fast for me. I apologize for not blogging sooner, but I had a few problems figuring out why this wouldn’t post. Last night was I think the best New Years I have ever had, up to date. I was just going to stay home and watch a DVD of Robin Williams with my parents, but plans changed, thankfully. I was invited last minute to spend New Years in Niagara Falls with a friend.

I had a pretty good night, but it was brutal in terms of weather. It was -22 farenheight outside, with continuous snowing, and me walking the streets in skater shoes, the closest I had to boots (I had to return the ones I did have yesterday due to them being torn=/). We decided for the most part just to walk around and enjoy the scenery; we left late for Niagara, so didn’t have much time for anything. The Festival of Lights was still going on, so we decided to see those. They were surprisingly pretty cute—many of them were animated Disney characters. I attempted to take photos of the nicest ones, but they were right beside the stage with too many people around, so they didn’t come out great at all. We then walked around a bit more, before paying to ride the ferris wheel that overlooks the Falls. We got four rounds out of it, surprisingly, so it was worth the money. It was an amazing view; overlooking everything—the Falls, the casinos, and so much more. At around 11:30 we headed towards the stage for the final countdown to 2009. It wasn’t as great as New York or Toronto, but hey, at least it was something. :) By the time we got back to the car, I couldn’t feel my fingers, face or feet, but it was worth it, in a way. I would have loved to do something more, but didn’t have a chance to go to any parties or anything of the sort. But next year I’m totally coming more prepared (as in, making sure I own a pair of boots). Along with hitting the casino and clubs. Hell, I’m not waiting until next year…I’ll just go in May when I turn nineteen. ;) Until then, I’ll be spending weekends in Quebec, where the age is only 18. ;)

Here is a recap of 2008:
I turned 18.
I Graduated highschool.
My University acceptance screwed up, resulting in my classes being screwed up big time.
I began University.
I survived through my first semester of University.
I made new friends.
I was fired for no reason from my job, someone I had been working for since she opened her business.
Had a ridiculous amount of drama occurr.
My Grandmum passed away.

My resolutions for 2009:
Eat healthier.
Stop procrastinating with everything.
Look for a new and better job, and hope that my former boss’s business goes down the drain.
Travel to Prince Edward Island.

2008 was an okay year for me, but I’m confident that 2009 will hold even more hope, in terms of both my life, and the world—hoping for a better economy, the government to actually kick into helping ridding of pollution, and just making the world a better place in general, before it’s too late. What are your 2009 resolutions, and do you think 2009 will be better than 2008 for you?

Well, I’m back—after over two months of inactivity, which I do apologize for. University has been so much more of a burden than I expected, and has literally been taking up most of my time. So much has occurred since I last blogged. Most of it being fairly bad news, to say the least. And I would like to give a huge thanks to my host Amber for putting up with my inactivity for so long and helping me out with everything, you’re absolutely awesome.:) And a huge thanks to Amanda for helping me out with some of the coding.;) I also realize that in Internet Explorer, there are mutliple problems with the layout and coding. It works fine for Firefox, but I’ll see if I can get around to fixing them for IE.

So I’ll outline the major news. At the beginning of October, work was horrible (more like who I was working for). However, it went even more downhill one day, when it was ridiculously busy, and we were understaffed. The two supervisors I was working with at the time decided to stay put at the front reception the entire day, while I had to man the back, attempting to work two positions at once. A busy indoor playground + wild and screaming kids + stressed out and the random snotty parents = disaster. We received a few major complaints, generally about how “everyone” was always at the front reception, with no one serving at the back. One thing led to another, and the next day I was messaged to call the owner, so I did. Being told I was fired. Her excuse: “As you know, we’ve never really gotten along.” Which is a load of crap. I’d been working for her since she opened, and we never had a problem with each other, at least not upfront. Sure, that day of disaster, among countless other times, I complained about her—along with everyone else. So I have now been unemployed for over two months, with a tuition for next year to pay, among other things. Even though I was fired in October, and she wrote in my employment record I quit, I’m going to see if I can go to the labour board about the situation; I was given no valid reason for being fired.

Aside from being fired, nothing huge has happened. I really love university—I’ve met so many people, and I love my classes. Well, some of them. I finished exams on the 11th, ending a week earlier than most of my friends, but it gave me another week of holidays.;) I’m worried about my marks though—I’ve only seen one out of five of my classes, and I’m afraid I didn’t do too well on most. I found first semester difficult—it was a blow to the face; all sudden. However, I now know what to expect, and am ready to tackle second semester.

I’ll leave you with this—Merry Christmas!! I’ll let you know how my Christmas was in my next entry.:)
